Stubborn dog really, really, really doesn’t want to leave the park

TwitterFacebook

Well, at least it’s an effective way to protest.

A golden retriever thought it’d be cool to play dead while its human tried to leave with it at a park in Burleigh Hill, Australia, as per a video uploaded to the 9 News Gold Coast Facebook page.

And hey, it worked, with plenty of people watching the battle between dog and man, who tried his best to tug the pup’s leash.

Eventually it gets up and leaves, but without making a point, of course. Read more…

Adorable little dog was reportedly saved by mouth-to-nose resuscitation

TwitterFacebook

You’d be hard-pressed to find someone who knows doggy CPR, so when man’s best friend is in trouble, improvisation is key.

Glenn Rowe, a farmer from Wimmera in Australia, claimed he saved the life of his kelpie Jack when the dog was lifeless after accidentally strangling himself on a lead attached to a quad bike.

“I thought crikey, he’s not looking too good, he was all glassy eyed — yeah, he was cactus,” Rowe told radio station 3AW.

Rowe leapt into action by giving the dog a bit of improvised CPR. The farmer pumped him on the chest, which wasn’t effective. So then he started blowing into his nose. Read more…

Police dog too friendly for the force gets an adorable new job

TwitterFacebook

If you want to be a police dog, you’ve gotta be a bit tough. Gavel, a German Shepherd from Queensland, Australia, isn’t.

He was ruled too sociable for the frontline by police trainers, and was let go from the training program while he was being fostered at the official residence of the Queensland governor.

Left wondering what to do with the pooch, staff decided to give him a new job as a vice-regal dog, which was made official in February this year.

“He has outgrown four ceremonial coats, undergone a career change (his official title is now Gavel VRD, ‘Vice-Regal Dog’), and brought untold joy to the lives of the governor, Mrs de Jersey, Government House staff, and the thousands of Queenslanders who have since visited the estate,” the office of Governor Paul de Jersey told the BBC.
